Temporary structures events exhibitions UK projects are unlike any other temporary building requirement. An event or exhibition structure is not just functional, it is part of the brand experience, and visitors start forming an impression the moment they see it. Whether you need an exhibition stand for Hillhead, a branded marquee for a corporate event, or a full temporary venue for a festival, the structure needs to perform and look right on the day.
Here is what actually matters when you are planning temporary structures for events and exhibitions in the UK.
The Main Structure Types
Clearspan event structures are the most flexible option. Large, column-free internal spaces that can be configured almost any way you like. The right choice when internal layout flexibility is the priority. Most have PVC or fabric roofing with solid or glass wall options. See our temporary event structures range.
Solid wall exhibition buildings are what you need when the structure has to look and feel like a premium permanent building. Solid wall panels give a clean, high-specification exterior finish that a PVC tent simply cannot match. Add full-height glass sections, glazed doors and custom branding and you have a structure that genuinely stands out. We demonstrated this for Finlay at Hillhead, where the brief was to create something that would be remembered on a competitive showground. See the full exhibition structures range.
Fully branded structures go beyond the building itself to create a complete brand environment. Custom graphics applied to external panels and internal surfaces, brand-matched flooring, branded furniture and display systems. This is the highest-specification option and requires close collaboration between your brand team and our design team in the weeks before the event.
Questions to Answer Before You Call
What is the maximum available footprint on site? What is the intended visitor flow through the structure? What are the event access and dismantling windows? What brand guidelines apply, including colours, logo specifications and typography? What are the power, data and AV requirements? Is the surface hard standing or grass? Are there height restrictions on the showground?
Having clear answers to those questions means we can produce an accurate specification and quote much faster. If you have a site plan, bring it.
Lead Times
A standard clearspan event structure with no branding can typically be specified, quoted and installed within two to four weeks for smaller structures. A branded solid wall exhibition structure needs significantly more time. Design collaboration, graphics production and client sign-off typically take four to eight weeks before fabrication and installation can begin. For major trade shows, enquire at least eight to twelve weeks before the event date.
Planning Permission
For events lasting under 28 days, temporary structures generally do not require planning permission. For longer events the position is more complex. The government’s Event Safety Guide and the Planning Portal are both useful references. We can advise on your specific situation when you enquire.
Dismantling and Site Clearance
All of our event and exhibition structures are fully dismantled and removed by our own team at the end of the event. The site is cleared and returned to its pre-event condition. Make sure you know the dismantling window your venue allows and include it in your brief so we can plan accordingly. Running over that window at a showground can be expensive.

Getting Temporary Structures for Events and Exhibitions Right First Time
The single biggest risk on an events project is the date. Unlike a permanent building, an events structure has a fixed, non movable deadline, so lead time and a realistic installation schedule matter more than almost anything else. We work backwards from the event date to confirm design, manufacture and installation can genuinely be completed with contingency built in, not just on paper.
Branding and finish also carry more weight on an events or exhibition structure than on a standard industrial or welfare building. Glazed frontages, custom colours and full branding wraps are commonly specified so the structure reinforces the event or exhibitor’s identity rather than looking like a generic temporary building.
Frequently Asked Questions
How far in advance should I book an events or exhibition structure?
We recommend booking at least six to eight weeks ahead for a standard structure, and longer for a large or heavily branded build, to allow for design, manufacture and installation with contingency.
Can an exhibition structure be branded to match my stand design?
Yes. Elite specification structures can be finished with custom colours, full branding wraps and glazed panels to match an exhibitor’s brand identity.
Do temporary event structures need planning permission?
Most short term event and exhibition structures fall under permitted development, though this depends on the site and duration. We check this as part of the quote.
How quickly can a temporary structure be removed after an event?
Dismantling and site clearance is typically scheduled within a few days of the event ending, and we agree the exact timeline with the venue in advance.
